How to Calculate Concrete

Concrete is measured in cubic yards. To calculate how much you need: multiply length x width x depth (in feet), then divide by 27 (since there are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard). For cylindrical post holes, use the formula for the volume of a cylinder: pi x radius-squared x depth.

Always add a waste factor (we default to 10%) to account for spillage, uneven ground, and over-excavation. Ready-mix concrete is typically delivered in full-yard increments, so round up.
