How to Calculate Drywall

Measure the total linear feet of walls in the room, multiply by the wall height to get the wall area. Subtract door openings (~21 sqft each) and window openings (~12 sqft each). Add ceiling area if applicable. Divide total area by sheet size (32 sqft for 4x8, 48 sqft for 4x12) to get the number of sheets.

Budget about 1 bucket of joint compound per 400 sqft, 1 roll of tape per 500 sqft, and 1 lb of screws per 100 sqft.
